The Royal Northwoods Golf Club, Inc. in Bulacan will stage one of the biggest golf tournaments in the north dubbed as the Northern Luzon Inter-town this weekend with a total of 160 participants confirmed to see action.
An expanded version of what used to be the Bulacan Inter-town, the Northern Luzon Inter-town has attracted 40 all-amateur squads, mostly coming from Central Luzon and adjoining provinces which will be playing under the four-to-play, three-to-count format.
Club general manager Antonio Pancho said that the teams will be chasing the Best Town award going to the overall champion.
Pancho added that the tourney was originally set for only 30 teams but the successful registration had them receiving as many as 50 teams. But to ensure the high quality of service RNGCI promises to give, they had to peg the final number to just 40 and put the rest on waiting list.
Most teams are represented by golfing executives from various cities and municipalities and the event is expected to foster camaraderie and goodwill among them.
Next year looks to be even bigger and better as RNGCI is looking into the possibility of accommodating a much bigger field including those from the south.
