Celestino leads winners in PCA singles qualifying

Nestor Celestino Jr. of San Beda defeated Juancho Botor, 8-1, and Jandrick de Castro of La Salle-Greenhills blasted David Bonifacio, 8-0, yesterday to lead the first-round winners in the mens singles qualifying of the 21st Philippine Columbian Association Open Tennis Championships at the PCA outdoor courts.
Celestinos victory set him up against national junior Irwin de Guzman while De Castro will meet Martin Temblique, an 8-6 winner over Jun Magpali.
Menandro Econg, Danilo Olosin, Dennis Perida and Reynaldo Laroya also won their matches to advance in the next round of this event presented by Dunlop and Accel with support from The Philippine STAR, Chowking, Photokina, PBCom, San Miguel Corporation, Coca-Cola, PVL Restaurant-Little Lawrence, Tobys, Copacabana and Trans Asia.
Joseph Arcilla downed Govino Daswani, 7-0, Econg beat Alexander Ternario, 8-2, Olosin nipped Jerry Javier, 8-6, Perida outplayed Macoy Ginoo, 8-3, and Laroya trounced Giovanni Morte, 8-2.
