Preparations are in full swing for the staging of the fourth Philippine National Youth Games Batang Pinoy set Dec. 1-7 at the Puerto Princesa Sports Complex in Palawan.
Some 3,500 children athletes and officials are expected to gather in the city, which is hosting, for the first time, a nationwide sporting event organized by the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC).
The PSC has forged agreements with air and sea transport companies that have existing routes to Puerto Princesa, such as WG&A Super Ferry, Negros Navigation, Sulpicio Lines, and Air Philippines, for special discounts on fare for all Batang Pinoy delegates.
"In anticipation of the influx of delegates coming from all over the country, we have formed a reception committee that would provide assistance to delegates passing through Manila en route to Puerto Princesa," said PSC chairman Eric Buhain.
The committee, which will be stationed at the Manila Port, shall address concerns such as transportation needs to and from Palawan.
