Nokia intervillage golf finals tomorrow

More than a hundred golfers representing the 12 villages that made it to the finals of the Nokia Intervillage golf tournament being organized by Videocom since 1991 will see action tomorrow at the Faldo course of the Eagle Ridge Golf and Country Club. The second and deciding round will be played Nov. 18 at the Palmer course of The Orchard in Dasmariñas, Cavite.
Nokia, the world leader in mobile communications, is this years title sponsor, playing a major role in the success of the tough but exciting elimination series held from April to June in various courses in Metro Manila.
Also throwing their continued support to the Nokia Grand Intervillage are Philippine Airlines, PLDT, Alaxan, Planet Wine and More Gallery, ICTSI, Mastercard, Menzi and Company, National Sports Grill, Pisanti, Boracay 357 and Mizuno.
The top three teams from the four different sectors North, South, East and Central made it to the finals that will determine the best golfing village in the country this year. The 12-to-play, 10-to-count Stableford format will be used in the finals.
The field will be divided into three divisions: A for the sectoral champions, B for the runners-up and C for the third placers. The Nokia Grand Intervillage champion may come from any of the three divisions.
In Division A are elimination round topnotcher Corinthian (594), Alabang 400 (557), defending champions Greenhills 1 (580) and Magallanes (584). In Division B are Philam Homes (564), Tahanan Village (556), Greenhills 2 (558) and Wack Wack (573) while in Division C is made up of Don Enrique Heights (558), BF Homes (553), Valle Verde 1 (554) and Greenmeadows (551).
The players will also vie for individual honors with the maximum handicap of 25 for men and 30 for women. Only players whose names appear in the official team roster may compete.
