Spring Oil competes in CBL Invitational

Reigning national champion Spring Cooking Oil will see action in the CBL (Cebu Basketball League) Invitational Cup tournament on Nov. 10-16 at the Cebu Coliseum in Cebu City.

"It’s a big opportunity for the boys to be able to pit their skills against some of the best teams in the country," said Spring team owner Nathaniel "Tac" Padilla, who is also the national pistol champion.

Carrying the colors for coach Tito Palma’s Spring team are Mar Reyes, Mike Buendia, Rodel Manuel, Yong Garcia, Ricky Ricafuente, Wowie Ybanez, Braulio Lim, Murphyl Limbo, Lito Saygo, Theody Habelito, Chris Corbin, Nonie Canuza, Dave Bautista and Tyrone Bautista.

Assisting coach Palma is Ricky Magallanes while the team consultant is seven-time PBA Best Import Bobby Parks.

Also vying in the tourney are Forward Taguig, Cebu Lhuillier, ML Kwarta Padala, University of the Visayas, USJ-R, Davao champion Marsman and Mindanao Friendship Cup titlist Ozamiz City.

Three games will kick off the tourney on Nov. 10. It will be Taguig against M. Lhuillier at 2 p.m., UV against USJ-R and Kwarta Padala against Spring Cooking Oil.

Spring represented the Philippines in two big international competitions this year – the ABC Champions Cup in Kuala Lumpur and the Hong He Cup in Yunnan, China.
