Tan Ho leads winners in PCA Open junior tennis

Second seed Joshua Tan Ho defeated Joseph Baldonado, 6-1, 6-0, last Sunday to lead the boys 12-under quarterfinals in the PCA Open Juniors Tennis Championships at the PCA outdoor clay courts.
In other matches, Mark Balce downed Rodel Navarro, 6-1, 7-5, Edwin Olivarez Jr. outclassed Homer Perez, 6-1, 6-1, James Murrell blasted Raymarc Santiago, 6-0, 6-0, Patrick Arevalo beat Julius Lagman, 6-1, 6-1, Jeffrey Villanueva demolished John Rey Litan, 6-0, 6-0, and Gerard Michael Ngo struggled past Akio Sy, 6-1, 1-6, 6-2.
Gaining quarterfinal slots in the unisex 10-under class were Joan Opulencia, who scored a 6-2, 6-2 win over Marco Verano, Sarah Jane Lim, who beat Ma. Regina Santiago, 6-1, 6-1, and Juan Gabriel Pena, a 6-4, 6-1 winner over John Marie Altiche.
In other results, Pablo Olivarez Jr. defeated Jarryd Manduriao, 6-3, 6-0, and Russell Arcilla Jr. dumped Isaac Sabas, 6-0, 6-1, to enter the boys 14-under division of this event supported by Dunlop, Accel, Copacabana, San Miguel, Traffic, PBCOM, Ford, Sea Air and Tobys.
Also advancing were Ogie Reynoso, Bryan Dayleg, Daniel Macalino, Mikoff Manduriao, Johnwill Baldonado, Jose Opulencia, Martin Ramos, Christopher Ensomo, Brian Lontok, James Murrell and Gerard Michael Ngo.
In the boys 16-under division, Jimmy Tangalin outplayed John Paolo Alcachupas, 6-1, 6-1, and Johnwill Baldonado blanked Paul McAtchison, 6-0, 6-0, to reach the second round while Joel Mogues defeated Jordan Villanueva, 6-3, 6-2, to join Yannick Guba and Joseph Arcilla in the boys 18-under second round.
Meanwhile, the deadline of entry for the mens and womens Open singles and doubles is on Saturday while the draw is Sunday. The tournament is slated Nov. 12-24 at the indoor courts.
