MARHO Breeders Cup offers P7-M purse

-
The mother of all racing festivals comes off the wraps starting Nov. 13 as the Metropolitan Association of Race Horse Owners (MARHO) launches the biggest and the richest horse racing event of the year with the staging of the seventh MARHO Breeders’ Cup Racefest at the Santa Ana Park.

With total guaranteed prizes expected to exceed P7-million, MARHOBreeders’ Cup brings to fore the creme de la creme of the local horse racing industry, from the most promising racing prospects in the juvenile division to the most dominant racers in the older classic division.

Acknowledged as the country’s premier championship venue, this year’s MARHO Breeders’ Cup will once again be backed by the country’s premier brew — San Miguel Beer — which has extended support to the event for the fifth straight year.

"MARHO and San Miguel Beer have once again joined hands to stage the seventh renewal of the MARHO Breeders’ Cup Series, local racing’s most keenly awaited championship forum which brings to light the best produce of the local horse breeding industry," noted Marho president and Breeders’ Cup founder Aristeo Puyat.

Headlining the lucrative parade of championship races would be the running of the five-division MARHO Breeders’ Cup Races, including the MARHO Juvenile Colts, the MARHO Juvenile Fillies, the MARHO 3-year-old Colts, the MARHO 3-year-old Fillies and theMARHO Classic for older horses. A sixth championship, the Marho Sprint, has also been scheduled in the blue-ribbon championship card.

Patterned after the highly successful US Breeders’ Cup Championships, the MARHO Breeders’ Cup has similarly achieved tremendous success since its inaugural staging in 1996. In fact, the MARHO Breeders’ Cup Racefest last year (Nov. 14-18) was venue to the setting of the highest five-day total gross sales amounting to P145-million.
