Ateneo Milo’s best

DAVAO CITY – Ateneo de Davao maintained its supremacy in Mindanao youth basketball recently by sweeping the Milo BEST SBP (Small Basketeers Philippines) and Passerelle regional titles here.

The Ateneans dumped Ateneo de Zamboanga, 105-59, in the SBP finals while their older counterparts also toppled Ateneo de Zamboanga, 57-41, in the Passerelle finals.

The Davao boys will represent Mindanao in the national finals, which will also feature champion teams from NCR (National Capital Region), Luzon and Visayas.

Both Ateneo de Davao and Ateneo de Zamboanga swept their respective SBP and Passerelle elimination assignments to arrange the crown showdown.

Ateneo de Davao whipped Xavier, 80-62, and Notre Dame, 76-66, while Ateneo de Zamboanga whipped Notre Dame, 54-40, and Xavier, 58-53, in the SBP division.

In the Passerelle group, the Davao cagers ripped Notre Dame, 115-42, and Sacred Heart, 106-96, while the Zambo kids blasted Sacred Heart, 94-73, and Notre Dame, 99-49.

Xavier crushed Notre Dame, 96-72, while Sacred Heart walloped also Notre Dame, 98-60, to finish third in the SBP and Passerelle divisions, respectively.

The sportsmanship award went to Notre Dame (SBP) and Sacred Heart (Passerelle).
