Nokia Grand Intervillage up at Eagle Ridge, Orchard

-
The 2002 Nokia Grand Intervillage, which gathers the top 12 teams to come out of a lengthy but exciting three-month elimination series, will be played Nov. 11 and 18 to finally determine who will be crowned as the best golfing village in the country this year.

The first round of the 12-to-play, 10-to-count finals of the event being organized by Videocom and now on its 11th year will be played at the Faldo course in Eagle Ridge while the second round is set at the Palmer course of The Orchard.

The tournament is sponsored by Nokia, the world leader in mobile communication, and supported by PLDT, Alaxan, Planet Wine and More Gallery, ICTSI, Mastercard, Philippine Airlines, National Sports Grill, Pisanti, Mizuno and Boracay 357.

The field will be composed of the top three teams from each of the four competing sectors with Corinthian Gardens (North), Alabang 400 (South), Greenhills I (East) and Magallanes (Central) competing in Division A. Division B will be composed of the runners-up from each sector—Philam Homes, Tahanan Village, Greenhills 2 and Wack Wack – while Division C will be made up of third placers Don Enrique Heights, BF Homes, Valle Verde 1 and Greenmeadows.

The team with the highest Stableford points after 36 holes will be declared the 2002 Nokia Grand Intervillage champion. It may come from any of the three divisions.

The players will also vie for top honors in the individual competition with the maximum handicap pegged at 25 for men and 30 for women. Only players whose names appear in the official team roster are eligible to compete.

During the elimination series that was held from April to June, Corinthian Gardens posted the highest winning score of 594 points after 36 holes followed by Magallanes with 584 and Greenhills 1, last year’s Grand Intervillage champion, with 580.
