Southwoods Invitational up Oct. 11

The 2002 Southwoods Invitational, Manila Southwoods Golf and Country Clubs exciting and much-awaited members tournament, is scheduled on Oct. 11-12 at the Masters and Legends courses in Carmona, Cavite.
The SW Invitational is a two-man team event, composed of a Manila Southwoods member and a guest, which is being presented by College Assurance Plan (CAP) and SMART Communications.
A brand-new Mitsubishi Lancer GSR, an Alaskan Cruise Package and a complete set of Wilson golf clubs will be up for grabs as hole-in-one prizes. Mitsubishi Motors Philippines/Diamond Motors Corp., Princess Cruises and Wilson are the hole-in-one sponsors.
According to Alfredo Mendoza, chairman of the sports and games committee of Manila Southwoods, 175 two-man teams have confirmed participation.
Entry fee is pegged at P6,000 per team inclusive of give-aways, dinner, a raffle ticket and free practice rounds from Oct. 3-10.
All teams will be divided into four groups based on the handicap of the member. Class A is from 0-9 handicap, Class B (10-15), Class C (16-21) and Class D (22-27), Mendoza said.
Mendoza also said members with handicaps of 28 and above would use the maximum handicap of 27. Guests will have a maximum handicap of 24. Handicaps will be based on handicap index for the month of September.
