PMI sweeps CUSA elims, enters finals

Defending champion Philippine Maritime Institute swept the eliminations of the eighth CUSA womens basketball tournament Sunday via a 56-49 victory over Central Colleges of the Philippines at the San Juan gym.
PMI offset Michelle Alcancias 28-point performance with a balanced offensive anchored on Janice de Guzmans 14 points.
Alcancia scored nearly half of her teams output but none of her teammates scored more than seven points.
PMI awaits the winner of the knockout semifinal match between CCP and Philippine College of Criminology.
In a no-bearing game, Trinity College trounced winless De La Salle-Araneta University, 55-45.
In the juniors division, Trinity and Las Piñas College clash for the right to meet defending champion PCCr in the final. PCCr had earlier finished the elimination unscathed.
