Lady Admirals post second win, demolish Trinity belles

Defending champion Philippine Maritime Institute rolled to its second straight win with a lopsided 59-23 decision of Trinity College Sunday in the women’s division of the CUSA basketball tournament at the San Juan gymnasium.

The Lady Admirals leaned on the trio of Gerlyn Quiambao, Milveriza Quirante and Janice de Guzman, who combined for 40 points to hand Trinity its first loss.

In other women’s division matches, Central Colleges of the Philippines defeated Philippine College of Criminology, 50-33, behind the 27-point effort of Michelle Alcancia. It was CCP’s second straight win while PCCr absorbed its second straight setback. Technological Institute of the Philippines, meanwhile, mangled De La Salle-Araneta University, 60-37.

In the juniors’ division, defending champion PCCr routed Las Piñas, 72-37.

The Baby Panthers, who were led by Arjay Fajardo’s 24 points, scored their second straight win while handing LPC its first loss.

Debuting Trinity, on the other hand, demolished winless DLS-AU, 58-34.

Men’s action resumes today with six games on tap at the Rizal Coliseum.
