Aguilar shoots for second win

-
Glenn Aguilar, the heart and soul of the Caltex-Revtex-KTM team, shoots for his second straight win in the sixth leg of the Superferry National Motocross Series 2002 Saturday and Sunday at the El Pueblo Business Center, El Pueblo Township in Cagayan de Oro City.

The six-time national rider of the year missed the third and fourth legs due to a back injury sustained in the second leg, allowing his rivals to capitalize on the opportunity.

"It’s a perfect case of when the cat is away, the mice will play," said Caltex team manager Ner Marquez Dormiendo. "The only way his rivals can win is when Glenn is out of commission."

True enough, Aguilar, despite coming off a two-month rehabilitation period to heal his bad back, bounced back strongly in the Negros Occidental fifth leg, winning the premier Pro Open category with a consistent ride.

"My back is fine now, although meron pa ring kaunting pain pero manageable na. ‘Di tulad nu’ng una na talagang ‘di ako makagalaw."

The rest of the Caltex-Revtex-KTM found an inspiration in Aguilar’s mighty return and dominated the sixth leg by winning three more divisions of the Hartebeest-organized event. The team was so dominant, it won four of the seven events it was enterd in, further cementing its status as the country’s premier motocross team.
