Don Bosco captures Nike 3-on-3 cage title

PAMPANGA Heavy-favorite Don Bosco Academy went through the eye of the needle, needling an extra two-minute period to crush a hard-fighting Pampanga High School in overtime, 14-13, to capture the inaugural Nike 3 on 3 Pampanga Leg title at the SM City here last Saturday.
Don Bosco leaned on the heroics of Jorge Sabellano, who virtually sapped the energy of Pampanga High School with his key two-pointers that ensured victory for his team.
The exciting final game, which featured several lead changes and thrilling plays, was reduced to a two-on-two match as two players on both sides had fouled out.
For a while it looked like Pampanga High School was about to score an upset as Dian Paulo Henson completed a two-point play in the early goings of the overtime period to give his team an 11-9 lead. Don Boscos main man Sabellano, however, would not be denied his chance to shine as he went on a scoring rampagne thereafter to turn the tide in his teams favor en route a winning the championships.
Were confident that our team would win if we grabbed the lead, thats why I was not thinking twice to shoot those two-pointers," said Sabellano.
