Peñalosa primes up for date vs Japanese

The next 10 days is very crucial for the current World Boxing Council (WBC) International Superflyweight champion Gerry Peñalosa as he gears up for his tune-up fight this coming Aug. 20 in Hawaii.
Dubbed as Showdown in Honolulu, Peñalosa collides with top Japanese contender Seiji Tanaka, who is also being managed by Hideo Kanazawa, the manager of Tokuyama whom Peñalosa is scheduled to fight by November 2002 for the world title.
This is the fourth title defense of Peñalosa after capturing the vacant title in May 27, 2000 against Pone Saengmorakot of Thailand via technical knockout in the sixth round.
