A preview of Rajo Laurels intricately-designed parade and competition uniforms for next months Asian Games is in store prior to the premiere showing of Columbia Pictures "Triple X (xXx)" starring Vin Diesel and Samuel Jackson on Aug. 19.
The Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA), prime mover behind the noteworthy event, will treat guests to a brief fashion show where seven select athletes will be garbed with Mindanao-inspired attires by Laurel at the Robinsons Galleria Cinema 1 in Manila.
The PSA, the countrys oldest sportswriting fraternity, earmarks part of the proceeds of the movie preview to the Athletes and Coaches Association of the Philippines (ACAP) and the Philippine Amateur Athletes Federation Inc. (PAAFI), two associations with athletes preparing for the Busan, South Korea joust.
Athletes belonging to the Manila Sports Council (MASCO) headed by Arnold "Ali" Atienza will also benefit from the film showing expected to be attended by sports and movie personalities aside from the members of the PSA itself.
The athletes may draw some inspiration in their bid for Asian Games golds in the film that features a former X-Games athlete-turned-government spy, Xander Cage, who is played by Diesel of "Fast and the Furious" and "Saving Private Ryan" fame.
