Sports events to spice up Peñafrancia

A series of sporting events and trade festival activities highlight the Naga City Sports Councils celebration of the annual Peñafrancia fiesta this year, according to Pedro Lee, overall chairman of the council.
The sporting events organized by the council in cooperation with the Naga City government include a two-day amateur boxing event dubbed as Bakbakan sa Danlugan Part 3, the famous boat racing competition Regatta ng Naga managed by the Regatta Association of Bicol, Inc., cheering, taekwondo, and kids Olympics.
The other festival events are the Peñafrancia Trade Fair Product Exhibits and Cooking Demonstration, the Marikina Shoe Fair, and the International Sporting Goods Show and Trade Fair with 24 international sporting goods companies in participation.
The roster of events unfolds starting Sept. 13 and is slated to culminate on Sept. 24. The venue for the colorful activities is at the Peñafrancia Landing Arch Area at Dinaga Riverside and at the ground floor of the new Aristocrat International Plaza Hotel also located in the same place, Lee said.
