August Fore! to tee off in Wack Wack tomorrow

A tradition continues as the sixth edition of the August Fore! Invitational golf tournament, an event that started as a simple gathering of Rotarians that has blossomed into one of the biggest Rotary-initiated fund-raisers, tees off tomorrow at the Wack Wack west court. Tee-off time is 7:30 a.m.

Tournament host Bimbo Salazar, Rotary International past district governor and currently a member of the Monetary Board, will be joined by heads and representatives of companies which are again supporting his charity project organized by the Rotary of Diliman.

These are major sponsors Portals and San Miguel Corporation, Gleitsmann Security Inks Gmbh, International Container Terminal Services, Inc., Nestle Phils, LG Atkimson Chemicals Corp., Guard All Electronics Security System, Zuellig Corp., Star Paper Corp., Bingo Bonanza and Urban Escape Day Spa.

It will be a day of exciting challenges as the more than 100 players will try their luck at a Mitsubishi Lancer GLX, motorcycles from Jieda and S Kymco Pilipinas Inc. and appliance showcases which will be up for grabs as hole-in-one and tournament prizes. If not won, all hole-in-one prizes except for the Lancer will be raffled off.

Benefitting from the tourney are the annual Rotarympics for the disabled, Rotary’s medical center for indigents and The Tib-Ong Foundation’s scholarship grants for the poor in Bacolod, among others. Funds generated will be turned over to the various beneficiaries during the awards ceremony in the evening.

Entries will be playing the three-to-play, two-to-count format. Scoring will be Stableford net of handicap with a maximum cap of 59 points. There will be an overall team champion and separate winners for the various handicap ranges that will be determined prior to the tournament depending on the size of the field.

There is a separate division for individual play with the field vying for the Class A 0-12 handicap, Class B 13-20, Class C 21-28 and Class D 29-36. Prizes will be awarded to the overall champion and the top two finishers per class.
