MBA All-Stars finish fifth in Jones Cup

TAIPEI The MBA All -Stars closed out its roller-coaster campaign in the 25th Jones Cup by dropping a close 65-63 decision against the Japan Basketball League Selection at the Taipei Physical Education College Gym here Monday.
The loss was the fourth in seven games for the MBA cagers who wound up fifth in the eight-team tournament. Lokomotiv Novosibirsk, a team from Russia, emerged tied with the Filipinos but was relegated to fifth place via the winner-over-the-other rule.
Australia emerged champion after winning six of seven games while Canada came in second witha 5-2 slate.
