Tough La Salle defense scuttles Ateneo

ICTSI-La Salle unraveled an efficient defense down the stretch to get back at Ateneo-Hapee-Negros Navigation, 73-64, and firm up its hold of the lead in the 2002 PBL Chairmans Cup at the Makati Coliseum last night.
The Archers took control from the start but needed to toughen up on defense in the closing minutes to fend off a rally by the Eagles.
ICTSI-La Salle improved its win-loss record to 7-2 while dealing Ateneo-Hapee-Negros Navigation a third loss against five wins.
Earlier, Shark Energy Drink rolled to a fifth straight win with a 100-45 rout of RP Youth-Burlington while Blu Sun Power evened its card to 4-4 following a 60-53 decision over Montana Jewels.
Ismael Junio sizzled with eight three-pointers and a total of 33 points to lead the Power Boosters past the Jewelers. Eric dela Cuesta tallied 17 points, five rebounds and three steals for the Detergent Kings.
