Shark on the loose, eyes 4th win
May 6, 2002 | 12:00am
From a 0-4 start to a four-game winning streak.
This is what Challenge Cup champion Shark Energy Drink wants to accomplish as it clashes with Ana Freezers anew today in the 2002 PBL Chairmans Cup at the Pasig Sports Center.
Fresh from a 69-66 triumph over John-O, the Power Boosters are favored in the 4 p.m. match having pulled an overwhelming 86-65 victory over the Freezer Kings last April 24.
John-O, on the other hand, aims to snap a four-game losing skid when it collides with Kutitap Toothpaste at 6.
Shark coach Leo Austria is just too glad that his wards somehow regained their patented "killer-instinct." Ismael Junio and CJ Cole now blend well with mainstays Warren Ybanez, Irvin Sotto, Rysal Castro and Rolly Basilides while the addition of Mike Bravo and point Al Vergara proved to be big additions that helped the Power Boosters get back on track.
"The boys got their confidence back, and things are working well for us. I just hope that we could continue our momentum. Its still a long way to go and we need to catch up on other teams," said Austria.
But Ana is also in high spirit following a 74-68 triumph over Kutitap Toothpaste Friday night.
