16 teams meet in Nestea beach volley

-
Spectacular beach action ignites in the island paradise of Boracay when 16 of the best collegiate beach volleyball teams from all over the country clash in the quarterfinals, semifinals and championships of the sixth Nestea Beach Volley University Championships May 11-12.

The 16 teams that qualified for the Boracay leg were determined last month in the Metro Manila, Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao eliminations held at the La Salle Greenhills sand court. Eight of the teams are from Metro Manila and another eight are from the Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao areas.

Foundation University, composed of Kent Bulabon and Isidro Bongcasan, is seeking a back-to-back title against a field that includes Far Eastern University’s duo of UAAP indoor volleyball champion team members, Randy Fallorina and Joeffrey Butch Guevarra.

Joining them in their quest for the top plum and over half a million in prizes are a group composed of Nestea beach volley tournament veterans and newcomers.

Also seeking the men’s division title this year are Metro Manila’s Central Colleges of the Philippines (Jomel Bernardo and Michael Omana), PATTS College of Aeronautics (Christian Pascual and Robert Criscencio) and Mapua Institute of Technology (Albert Alano and Eliezer Collado); Luzon’s Pampanga Agricultural College (Joubert Cocjin and Roldan Garcia) and De La Salle University-Dasmariñas (Edgar Paule and Reygan Espera) and Visayas-Mindanao’s University of San Jose Recoletos (Jerome Capada and Norvie Labuga).

On the distaff side, the teams vying for the top title are Metro Manila’s Letran College (Sherrilyn Carrillo and Cathlea Villaluz), St. Jude College (Angie Adorable and Kriza Cabanog), Adamson University (Kristine Anne Dave and Ailane Quina) and Mapua Institute of Technology (Louvella Abanilla and Janilyn Sarabia); Luzon’s Baguio Colleges Foundation (Ma. Christine Enola and Jhoanna Joanino) De La Salle University-Dasmariñas (Raissa Ramirez and Rhona Ramirez); Visayas-Mindanao’s Southwestern University (Janeth Ponte and Florina Gutierez) and Foundation University (Cherie Mae Boladola and Rolyn Marquicias).

Nestea held the eliminations for the Luzon and Visayas-Mindanao areas in order to have a better representation of the entire country in the annual beach volley meet. For more details, check out the Nestea website at www.nestea.ph.
