Bear Brand kitefest flies to Baguio today

-
After a short break in observance of the Holy Week, the Bear Brand Kitefest 2002 hits the skies anew with the staging of the seventh leg in the country’s summer capital, Baguio City today.

Venue of the prestigious one-day kite-flying competition sponsored for the 12th straight year by Nestle Philippines is the sprawling Melvin Jones Field.

"We expect another colorful and well-attended weekend for kite-flying enthusiasts from Baguio City and other nearby cities and provinces," said Leslie Noble, vice president for events of marketing communications agency Publicis-AMA.

"Baguio City is always a perfect venue for kite-flying as clearly shown in the previous years," added Noble, who will be assisted in the event by local coordinator Aster Ulangco.

Finely-crafted trophies, cash prizes and gift packs await the winners in all eight categories, including those belonging to the elementary and high school divisions.

The categories are adults geometric and figure kite categories, college geometric and figure kite, high school flat kite, elementary flat kite, super kite award and "Saranggola ni Bear Brand" special award.
