Beach volleyball qualifier resumes

-
Beach volley fever reaches its peak when the conclusion of the Metro Manila eliminations of the sixth Nestea beach volleyball university championships resumes today at the sand courts of La Salle Green Hills.

Adamson University leads a big group of unbeaten teams gunning for the four available slots in the men’s division while a five-team cast headed by Mapua seeks the other four berths in the women’s side as they continue their quest until Sunday.

Also in the thick of the fight are men’s teams of Letran, PATTS, Far Eastern University, University of the East, Central Colleges of the Philippines, UST, NCBA and Lyceum, and the women’s squads of Letran, St. Jude, UE, PCU, PSBA, Adamson, Fatima and National University.

For the third straight year, sexy and sultry Isabel Granada is teaming up with Connie Luzabio for PATTS, hoping to make it big this time. Granada is aiming to bounce back from a 20-22 defeat in their initial outing last March 9.

This year’s Nestea beach volley tournament also holds Luzon and Visayas-Mindanao eliminations on April 13-15. All provincial teams are expected to arrive on April 12.

From there, the toughest and the strongest of these teams get to travel to the island paradise of Boracay where they will fight it out to emerge as kings and queens of the sands, and take home the top purse of P100,000 plus P50,000 worth of sports equipment for the school represented.

The tournament is made possible with support from SPEEDO, the official outfitter, Mikasa, Asian Spirit, WG&A Superferry, Astring-O-Sol Ice, Kenny Rogers Roasters, Carl’s Jr., Boracay Resorts, Villa De Oro, Boracay Gold Crowne Club, Club 10 Beach Resort, Crystal Sand and Alyssa Resort.
