Their showing had them lined up for a possible shot at one of 30 combined finals slots (senior ladies and men) up for grabs in the Masters event of the meet organized by the Philippine Senior Bowlers (PSB) and supported by Boysen, Philippine Sports Commission, Marvins Bar, 3D, Stronghold Steel Corp. and Union Galvasteel Corp.
At second behind Fernandez was Danny Tuazon with 2205, followed by Art Oberia of TOBA/PHENOMINA (2063).
Carmen Talosig (TBAM), meanwhile, was not far behind Beltran in the ladies senior with total of 1856 for second place, with SLETBAs Minia Judan coming at third with 1780.
Elmer de Vega paced the field in the All Events graded (mixed) with 2205.
Fernandez made it a double whammy on opening day as he also led in the doubles graded (mixed) with partner Ding Exequiel (1340).
Talosig bounced back with the help of Lou Laforteza as the two combined to score 1195 and top the doubles associate (mixed).
