Metro Manila teams from various colleges and universities take center stage in the sixth Nestea Beach Volley University Championships this weekend at the La Salle Green Hills Beach Volley sand court.
Formidable teams are expected to battle it out as schools can only send one team each for the mens and womens division. Preliminary matches start today where teams will be placed in a group of four playing a round robin format in which they will compete for sand points.
Winners get two points, losers get one point and forfeits are awarded zero points. All teams will then be ranked based on a quotient system.
Top 16 teams will compete in the first elimination rounds through a single elimination system with the top four advancing to the championships in Boracay where they will be facing finalists from Luzon and Visayas-Mindanao.
Over half a million in prizes is in store for the finalists with the champion teams to receive P100,000 each. The school they represent will also be given P50,000 worth of sports equipment.
The sixth Nestea Beach Volley University Championships is made possible through Speedo, Mikasa, Asian Spirit, Astring-o-sol ice, WG&A, Kenny Rogers, Carls Jr. and Boracay resorts, Boracay Gold Crowne Club and Villa de Oro.
