Negros coach seeks help of BCAP

-
After hearing reports that he is on the way out, Negros coach Robert Sison is now seeking the help of the Basketball Coaches Association of the Philippines (BCAP).

Sison, who steered the Slashers to two of their three Southern Conference titles and twice nominated as coach of the year, told The STAR that he had talked with the BCAP headed by Chito Narvasa.

But Sison claimed he is not a bit worried despite the lingering news of his possible sacking, citing his live contract for another year with Negros.

"I’ve been hearing rumors about that but it’s still unconfirmed," said Sison. "And I don’t think Negros has the money right now for a contract buyout. Remember, I still have one more year remaining in my contract."

Negros general manager Babes Alvarez refused to comment on the issue but said they would release an official statement next week.

There were reports, however, that Alvarez is conferring with his lawyers and allegedly mulling the possibility of firing Sison. The Negros executive admitted he has consulted lawyers but he neither confirmed nor denied it’s about Sison. — Joey Villar
