Prizes galore
November 28, 2001 | 12:00am
Its that time of year again. Christmas is coming and as is our tradition, were once again running a contest to share the seasons blessings with you, our readers our small way of giving thanks for your support and acknowledging the generosity of our friends.
The contest is simple. Joining is the easiest thing. Just answer the following three questions:
Which team will win the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Governors Cup Finals?
Who will be the PBAs Most Valuable Player this season?
Who is Michael Jordans coach with the Washington Wizards in the National Basketball Association (NBA)?
Write down your answers on a sheet of paper. Dont forget to include your name, telephone number, address, age, and signature. One entry, one envelope. No multiple entries in a single envelope, please. Each envelope counts as a single entry. Also, slip inside the envelope an actual clipping of The Philippine STAR masthead (any issue) which appears on the front page. For an entry to qualify in our draw, it must contain the correct answers, your personal details (name, etc.), and a clipping of the Star masthead.
Cutoff date for entries is Friday, Dec. 7 at the end of regular business hours. Mailed entries must be postmarked that date. Entries may also be delivered directly to the Star office in Port Area. No entry will be accepted after Dec. 7. Entries must be addressed to "The Contest A Sporting Chance," The Philippine STAR, 13th and Railroad Streets, Port Area, Metro Manila.
The PBA will present its annual awards on Sunday, Dec. 9, when Game 3 or 4 of the Governors Cup Finals is scheduled. The leagues MVP will be known that day. Thats why our contest cutoff is Dec. 7.
We will draw 23 winners and announce their names here in the week after the last game of the Finals. Why 23? Thats because this year, were celebrating MJs return to hoops.
Were assembling a host of prizes for you. There will be basketballs, sports apparel, foodstuff, bags, and others. So far, weve been assured of prize donations from San Miguel Corp., Alaska, Shell, Ginebra San Miguel, Dunlop, Asics, RFM Corp., and Nike. As we receive commitments, well be acknowledging our donors.
The first to respond to our request for donations was Philippine Basketball League (PBL) Chairman Dioceldo Sy who sent over five boxes of Shark energy drink and five cartons of Blu detergent.
If you want to join in, send your entries as soon as possible. The more entries, the more chances to be picked among the lucky 23. Our tip is for readers to send their entries, if several, on different days to space them out during the period of submission this way, your entries arent lumped together and you increase your odds of selection.
Winners will be invited to receive their prizes at the Star office. We guarantee quality prizes. So send in your entries now and join in the fun.
