Starmen dominate SMC golf

Three entries from The Philippine STAR shared top honors in the first San Miguel Media Invitational golf tournament recently.
More than 40 media practitioners from 10 publications and seven radio-TV stations participated in the fellowship competition co-sponsored by Wack Wack Golf and Country Club.
In the Sports "Parbusters" division, Philippine Star sports editor Lito Tacujan, toured the Wack Wack west course with a net 71 to cop the Class A and overall championship trophies among entries from the sports media.
The Stars Jess Diaz won Class B of the Business/News "Ace Hunters" division of the tournament spiced up with raffle and gift items from San Miguel Beer, Red Horse, Viva! Mineral Water, B-Meg, Magnolia Chicken, CampoCarne, Magnolia Quickmelt, Star Margarine, Pure Foods, Hormel and Ray-Ban. Star assistant business editor Roman Floresca, posted an identical 77 with Diaz, and settled as first runner-up based on handicap. Banderas Pompeyo Navarro, with a 79, took the Ace Hunters Class B second runner-up trophy.
Jun Engracia of the Philippine Daily Inquirer, with a net 72, emerged as the Class A champion in the Business/News Ace Hunters division. The first runner-up trophy went to Inquirer business editor Raul Marcelo, who prevailed over second runner-up Bing Jaleco.
