Organizers of the 52nd Fil-Am Mens International Amateur golf championships have ensured a smooth, trouble-free staging of the event slated Dec. 3-8 at the Camp John Hay and Baguio Country Club in Baguio City.
"We want to make sure that everything is in order. The players and guests will have a worry-free golfing holiday during the tournament," said Fil-Am overall coordinator Shean Bedi.
Gov. Raul Molintas, Rep. Mauricio Domogan and Mayor Bernardo Vergara are personally overseeing the plans of the city government to ensure the safety of 700 golfers seeing action in the 72-hole tournament widely regarded as the oldest and biggest amateur event in the world.
President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and former President Fidel Ramos have been invited to grace the ceremonial tee-off with Molintas, Domogan and Vergara.
The event is sponsored by Smart, Sony, Ericsson, College Assurance Plan, and John Hay Poro Point Development. An additional 300 VIPs, media, and guests are expected to join the event.
