Greenhills 1 clinches Alaxan intervillage crown

Saving its best for last, Greenhills 1 turned in a remarkable 380 Stableford points recently to run away with the Alaxan 10th Grand Intervillage golf championship at the Wack Wack Golf and Country Club. All players who scored for Greenhills 1 under the 12-to-play, 10-to-count format had 30 points. With its first-round 326, Greenhills 1 won with a 706 total in the event first staged in 1991 to develop camaraderie among golfers from different villages.

It was the first grand intervillage crown for Greenhills 1, which drew identical scores from Sonny Go, Andy Co, Doming Hernandez, Pete Lavarro, Louie Borromeo, Honor Mendoza, Arthur Reyes, Pablo Soon, Benito Lim and Mulong Santos.

The tournament sponsored principally by Alaxan is also supported by BJ Marthel International, MasterCard, PinoyAuctions.com, ICTSI, STI Computer College, Callaway, Odyssey, Pisanti Golf wear, Haagen Dazs and 357 Boracay.

Magallanes emerged champion in the A division with a two-round total of 685 (318-367) followed by Greenhills 2 at 682 (315-367), Philam Homes at 667 (297-370) and Merville Park at 648 (294-354). The division is for teams that won their qualifying tournaments.

The B division title went to BF Homes which had a total of 683 (313-370) followed by Bel-Air’s 548 (281-367) and White Plains. Greenhills 1 is in the same division reserved for the first runner-up teams of qualifying rounds.

The C division, reserved for second runner-up teams during the qualifying rounds, had Corinthian winning with a 695 total (318-377).

Tahanan was second at 692 (295-311) followed by Wack Wack at 606 (295-311) and Monte Vista at 319 (281-38).

Peter Chan of Greenhils 2 led the individual winners by ruling Group 2, while Sonny Go of Greenhils 1 topped Group 3. The other winners were Hubert Siy (Group 4) and Frank Puzon of BF Homes’ (Group 5).
