Wind Blown breezed past the opposition last night to rule the sixth edition of the San Miguel Beer-MARHO Breeders Cup Championship Race before a highly-satisfied crowd at the Sta. Ana Park.
Ridden by Pat Dilema, the four-year-old galloper owned by Hermie Esguerra towed the field throughout the gruelling 2,050-meter race before stepping on the gas at the far turn to win with plenty to spare.
Wind Blown won the top prize of P600,000 with a time of two minutes, 12.4 seconds (30.5, 24.5, 26, 24.5, 27). Gold Edition came in second, good for P225,000, while Materiales Fuertes salvaged third and P125,000.
Earlier, Ilocandia Slew was hardly affected by a change of jockey prior to the race, winning the three-year-old distaff mile to give owner Myther Bunag the top prize of P600,000. I Love You wound up second for P225,000 while Serena placed third for P125,000.
