Big guns return in U-Bix pro-am

-
The U-Bix Riviera Pro-Am Golf Championship blasts off today with the country’s top pros teaming up with crack amateurs at the Riviera’s Langer course in Silang, Cavite.

Spearheading the stellar cast are Cassius Casas, Robert Pactolerin, Tony Lascuna, Rey Pagunsan and former jungolf champion Gerard Cantada, who will be having his second stint as a pro after a strong showing in the last Philippine Open at Wack Wack.

A Toyota Altis, a best seller since its launch last August, is at stake during the four-day event through Toyota Motor Philippines’ Danny Isla, TMP’s first vice president for marketing.

Last held in 1995, the Pro-Am was revived through the efforts of U-Bix president Bert Bravo with help from Comm. Danny Pizarro, Riviera president and chairman of the organizing committee.

The unique one-ball, two-some format will again be applied in the fabled Pro-Am, which has the backing of San Miguel Beer, Pagcor’s Casino-Filipino through Efraim Genuino, DHL Philippines through Rod Feliciano, Mizuno through Lovell Gopez and Herma’s Group through Hermie Esguerra.

Cash prizes and gift certificates await the winners of the tournament supported by Fortune Tobacco, Paranaque Mayor Joey Marquez, Roche Int’l, Foremost, Cinnabon Rolls, Vic Sotto’s Travel Bag, Solahart, Caffé Appassionato, Citgo, Pivo Praha beef, Citra Tollways, Golden Grove Estates, Bravo Golf, Cena Restaurant and Bel-Air Bakery on N. Garcia Street in Makati
