Welcoat, Shark eye win No. 2
November 8, 2001 | 12:00am
Defending champion Shark Energy Drink and multi-titled Welcoat Paints gun for win No. 2 as they take on separate rivals at resumption of the PBL Challenge Cup today at the Makati Coliseum.
The Power Boosters, who romped away with a 75-65 victory over the Blu Detergent Kings last Tuesday, clash with the Ana Freezer Kings at 5:30 p.m., while the Paint Masters, who routed the Freezer Kings, 95-60, collide with the Montana Jewellers at 3:30 p.m.
Already boasting of an intact line-up, Shark further acquired two talented players Fil-Am Clarence Cole and former Letran standout Ismael Junio who both dished out decent games last Tuesday.
Cole backed up Sharks twin towers Rysal Castro and Ervin Sotto while Junio appeared to have the touch that could make Sharks offensive threat more formidable.
That makes Shark a tough opponent for Ana although owner-coach Rudy Mendoza has vowed to atone for the Freezer Kings poor showing against the Paint Masters. Joey Villar
