National shooting champion Nathaniel "Tac" Padilla displayed his usual deadly form to rule three pistol competitions, in the process breaking a Philippine record, in the recently monthly eliminations at the Marine range in Fort Bonifacio.
The 37-year-old general manager of Spring Cooking Oil fired 569 points to erase his old mark of 568 as he easily beat Gilbert Escobar (547) and Arthur Cabinian (543) in the standard pistol event.
Padilla also prevailed in the rapid fire and center fire competitions. He tallied 579 points in rapid fire to pull away from Carlos Vincent Medina (562) and Inocentes Dionesa (559) and 572 in center fire to whip Dionesa (558) and Cabinian (552).
"Im so happy to break my own mark," said Padilla of his standard pistol performance. "I credit my dad (former Olympian Mariano "Tom" Ong) who kept pushing me to focus on the sport for my fruitful campaign."
