The National Collegiate Athletic Association has decided to postpone Game One of the best-of-three championship series between San Sebastian and Jose Rizal University to Thursday.
NCAA Management Committee chairman Alfredo Olano explained that the move was made to give the teams enough time to prepare for their quest for the seniors crown.
Game One of the series for the juniors title between the Letran Squires and the San Beda Red Cubs, also originally scheduled for today, will be played Thursday.
After JRU bagged the other finals slot via a 99-75 blow-out over deposed champion College of St. Benilde Saturday, the NCAA Management Committee had an emergency meeting to tackle the request of the teams for more time to prepare for the finals.
"Obviously, all four teams came from hard struggles in the Final Four with just one day of rest from each playdate. They really need time to regain their energies. And with that, NCAA fans and supporters can really expect a blockbuster finals," said Olano.
"This will also give the teams enough time to scout their rivals and map out their strategies. So expect the finals to be a tough battle of talents and coaching tactics," he added.
The championship series will be aired live by Media Conglomerates Inc. through Silvestar Communication Inc. over NBN-4.
Likewise, the NCAA Management Committee will also announce this years best talents through the Individual Players Achievement Awards also set on Thursday. To be named are the Most Valuable Player, Rookie of the Year, Five Outstanding Players, Most Improved, Best Defensive Player and the recepient of the Sportsmanship Award.
