Harp named title series MVP

For being the most consistent player for his team on both ends of the floor, Red Bull’s DaVonn Harp was named by the PBA Press Corps Most Valuable Player of the recent PBA Commissioner’s Cup best-of-seven championship series won by the Thunder over erstwhile two-time champion San Miguel Beer.

The 6-foot-6 Harp, last year’s Rookie of the Year, nosed out teammates Junthy Valenzuela, Lordy Tugade, Ato Agustin and Mick Pennisi and San Miguel Beer’s Danny Seigle and Danny Ildefonso for the award in balloting among the 20 members of the PBAPC who covered each and every game of the finals. Harp polled a total of 79 votes on 13 first-choice nominations, four second-choice picks and two third-choice selections.

A first-place nomination is equivalent to five votes, being second-choice is worth three votes and third-place one vote.
