JVC renews support to Asian badminton tilt

JVC, the world’s top audio-visual and multi-media product provider, renews its commitment to sponsor global and local sports events as it stages the $150,000 JVC Asian Badminton Championships Aug. 22-26 at the Philsports Arena.

This marks the fifth straight year that the Japanese electronic giant will be the chief backer of the premier badminton event in the region, put up not only to promote and develop the sport but also to provide the Asian players a venue to showcase their talent and skills.

"In 75 years of JVC’s existence, our mission has always been to enrich the lives of human race by not only providing state-of-the-art breakthrough in the field of home entertainment but also through social and cultural development, such as sponsoring sports events," said Mamoru Otake, managing director of JVC.

True to its corporate goal, JVC has continued sponsoring Fifa football events since 1980 and will be one of the major sponsors of next year’s World Cup to be held in Korea and Japan. In Asia, JVC seeks to contribute to local communities through events such as the badminton championships.

Boosted by the event’s success the last four years, there now exists an aura of confidence among the Asian Badminton Confederation members of the future championship, which conversely forms the impetus for the youth of the region to pursue their vocation with great motivation.

For next week’s championships, local fans will be treated to a five-day display of world-class badminton as the region’s premier players vie for top honors in five divisions, namely men’s and ladies singles, men’s and ladies doubles and mixed doubles.
