Drawing big games from its key players, LBC Batangas blasted Socsargen, 103-86, yesterday to firm up its hold of the lead in the first phase of the 2001 MBA season at the Araullo Centrum Gym in Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija.
Romel Adducul, last years MVP awardee, dominated the shaded area while Ralph Rivera came through with perimeter jumpers to lead three other teammates with double-digit scores, finishing with 20 and 17 points, respectively.
The power-playing Adducul went six-of-seven from the field and eight-of-eight from the foul line as he powered the Blades to their sixth straight victory and ninth overall against two losses.
The loss, on the other hand, eliminated the Marlins, whose woes were compounded by injuries to Bong Alvarez and Edgar Echavez early in the match. Socsargen slid to 3-10 slate.
Meanwhile, Andoks San Juan remained in solo second as it trounced Nueva Ecija, 113-104, for its ninth win in 12 games.
It was the Patriots eighth setback against two wins. Joey Villar
