GMA to assess PSC officials after SEA Games

-
Pushing her administration’s campaign for good governance, President Arroyo has given accomplishment targets that will determine whether or not she will revamp the leadership at the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC).

In a radio interview yesterday, President Arroyo said she had told PSC officials led by its chairman Carlos "Butch" Tuason that she would evaluate their respective performances which will be based on the outcome of the forthcoming Southeast Asian (SEA) Games this September.

"I told them (PSC officials) they better perform in the (SE) Asian Games because I want tangible results," President Arroyo said.

"Let us see their performance in the (SE) Games," the President added.

Although appointees of deposed President Estrada, Tuason and the other PSC officials were not replaced when the Arroyo administration took over last Jan. 20.

The only new appointee is the President’s former classmate, Cynthia Norton, who took over from resigned commissioner and currently San Juan vice mayor Leonardo Celles.

Tuason is a cousin of the President’s husband, First Gentleman Jose Miguel Tuason Arroyo. – Marichu Villanueva
