Ana trips Giv, gains shot at No. 2 spot vs Welcoat

Ana Freezers gained a crack at No. 2 spot against Welcoat as it waylaid Giv Beauty Soap, 87-73, yesterday in the quarterfinal round of the PBL Chairman’s Cup at the Makati Coliseum.

It was the Freezer Makers’ seventh victory against three losses as they tied the Paintmasters for second place behind topnotcher Shark in Group A.

Ana and Welcoat will dispute the No. 2 spot and the twice-to-beat advantage in the semifinal round at 5:30 p.m. tomorrow.

The Soap Masters settled for fourth with a 6-5 card and will face the winner of the projected Pharmaquick-Hapee Toothpaste duel in Group B for the last semis berth. – Joey Villar
