Tiny seeks TRO to stop BAP polls

Quintillano "Tiny" Literal, objecting to the holding of elections at the corporate office of the Puyat family, has asked the courts to prevent the Basketball Association of the Philippines from holding an election of officers on June 7.
Literal lodged the request for a Temporary Restraining Order last Monday before the sala of Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 46 Judge Artemio Tipon, naming BAP acting president Lito Puyat, appointed secretary-general Nic Jorge and Freddie Jalasco as respondents.
Literal, who claimed to have been legally elected as president of the association, also included as respondents members of the Philippine Olympic Committee Executive Board headed by Celso Dayrit.
In its directive to the BAP, the POC has instructed the basketball group to conduct a poll at least before June 30 in an attempt to resolve the BAP problem once and for all.
The POC, however, stressed that the electorate should be the same body that installed Jalasco, who is currently on a leave of absence. Joey Villar
