Asia Cup stint staked in triathlon

-
A new bunch of triathletes, duathletes and aquathletes will carry the Philippine tri-colors in the Asia Cup series and international events. With this calling, the Fit & Tri Youth Triathlon 2001 series was successfully launched last April 21 at the Corinthian Gardens, Quezon City with 125 participants — mostly first timers — in the fold.

Organized by Firstwave Events Inc., the swim-bike-run series is set to stage more legs at the Corinthian Gardens (June 9), in UP Diliman (Sept. 9) and the finals in Ayala Alabang Village, Muntinlupa City (Dec. 2).

Participants aged 7 to 18 can join the events and get the chance to represent the country in the upcoming first Asian Youth Triathlon. The series aims to develop not just triathlon but also perseverance, sportsmanship, courage and faith among the youth.

In full support of triathlon for the youth, Triathlon Association of the Philippines (TRAP) president Tom Carrasco officially sanctioned the Fit & Tri Youth Triathlon 2001 series and commended the organizers in their trailblazing efforts.

Interested parties may call Firstwave Events, Inc. at (02) 750-0349 or 0917-5279190. The Firstwave team is composed of Lito Fugoso, Philippine Ironman Raul Cuevas, Chai De Leon, Pia Tan-Torres, Ricky Ledesma and Jenny Robles.
