Miñoza fires 71, trails leader by 7

-
Frankie Miñoza failed again to sustain his charge as he settled for an even-par 71 yesterday to fall seven strokes off Lin Keng-chi of Taiwan heading into the final round of the Fujisankei Classic at the Kawana Hotel golf course in Ito, Japan.

Miñoza, who moved to within three shots off the lead after a 68 Friday, is in joint sixth with three others at 210, eight shots behind Lin, who sizzled with a 67 to seize a five-stroke lead over Tsukasa Watanabe at 203.

Watanabe had a second straight 69 to be at 208 while Tory Suzuki (67), Katsuyoshi Tomori (66) and Hiroyuki Fujita (68) stood a shot farther back at 209.

Over in Stockbridge, Georgia, Jennifer Rosales fired a one-under 71 to gain a share of 36th place at the start of the Chick-fil-A Championships at the par-72 Eagle’s Landing County Club course.

That was five strokes off Sara Sanders and Dottie Pepper, who both shot 66s for a one-shot lead over Beth Daniel and five others.

Dorothy Delasin, who had three top 10 finishes in 11 tournaments this season, struggled with a 74.
