The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) will hold the first-ever "Athletes Value Formation Seminar" today starting at 10 a.m. at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex.
"In light of the forthcoming Kuala Lumpur Southeast Asian Games and other international competitions, we deem it appropriate that our national athletes be equipped not only with physical and sports psychology training but also with values education," PSC chairman Carlos Tuason said.
PSC commissioner William Ramirez, a sports educator from Mindanao, will speak on "Values Formation" while Commissioners Amparo Lim, over-all project chairman, and Cynthia Carreon will address the participants.
An athletes fellowship segment and open forum shall highlight the two-part event.
"This will be the first time that a seminar of this kind will be conducted by the PSC for national athletes. We hope to establish open communication lines with the athletes themselves, to hear their problems and needs so we can address them immediately," Tuason added. "We also hope to achieve unity and pursue sports excellence through this approach."
