Eagle Ridge’s two tough courses test golfers’ mettle

-
Two courses offering completely different challenges will be used for the inaugural Eagle Ridge Invitational Tournament, the newest addition to the country’s member-guest events, slated March 23-25 at the country’s biggest golf complex in Gen. Trias, Cavite.

The championship courses designed by Andy Dye and Nick Faldo have been picked to serve as venues for the Eagle Ridge tourney, setting the stage for a test of consistency among the two-man teams seeing action.

While Dye presents the tougher option, Faldo will be the course to conquer in the race for the titles at stake, the low gross award and the Class A, B, C and ladies divisions.

Registration has been upbeat since the announcement of an Open Astra Wagon as the grand raffle prize during the awards ceremonies on March 25.

Other prizes include a Bose audio system, a laptop computer, video camera, digital camera, audio component, color TV, refrigerator, gas range, washing machine and many more.

Competing teams will be allowed free golf cart use for two days, part of the package lined up by the organizing committee.

Entry fee is P6,000 which is also inclusive of giveaways, tee-house snacks, breakfast and awarding dinner. Members are advised to register their teams at the Golf Office at the Aoki Clubhouse on or before March 20.

Engr. Winnie Gob, project director of Eagle Ridge, said that they foresee the inclusion of the Aoki course and the soon-to-be-completed Norman layout in future Eagle Ridge Invitationals.

Eagle Ridge is poised to become the only club in the Philippines with four courses.

The handicap classifications to be used are a combined 0-19 for Class A, 20-39 for Class B and 40-59 for Class C. The ladies side is an open division.
