St. Paul’s booters gain finals

- Joey Villar, Nelson Beltran -
DUMAGUETE City – St. Paul’s School of Barotac Nuevo nipped Negros Oriental High in a sudden-death penalty shootout yesterday at the Siliman ballfield here to qualify for the 17th Coke Go-for-Goal under 16 national football finals slated late this month in Bacolod City.

The SPS booters clinched the thrilling all-Visayas finals, 6-5, as Joseph Pueyo knocked in the "golden goal" after the two teams had battled to a 1-1 tie in regulation and 5-5 after the penalty shootout.

It was sweet revenge for the Iloilo boys, who lost to the Negros Oriental squad, 0-2, in last year’s all-Visayas finals of the youth soccerfest sponsored by Coca-Cola with Adidas as official ball.
