PBL games cancelled

Due to the volatile political situation, the Philippine Basketball League yesterday decided to cancel its scheduled games today pitting Shark against Hapee and Welcoat versus Blu at the Makati Coliseum games Shark guns for the outright championship slot as it plays Hapee Toothpaste today even as defending champion Welcoat tries to extend its win run to 10 against Blu in the semifinal round of the PBL Challenge Cup at the Makati Coliseum.

A victory by the Power Boosters will formalize their stint in the championship round and the frontrunning squad, which totes a 10-3 (win-loss) card has vowed to do it in its 2 p.m. encounter with the Teeth Sparklers.

With a 6-6 slate, Hapee is hoping to avail itself of the league's 4-of-5 incentive for a crack at the other finals slot.

Welcoat, on the other hand, is heavily fancied over Blu in their 4 p.m. clash with the Paint Masters looking unbeatable at this stage where they have to yet to lose again after sweeping their last nine games.

"If there’s one unpredictable team, it’s Hapee. We’re not taking any chances, and I know how they’ve determined to score one against us," said Shark coach Leo Austria.

"But we’re ready for them. We reviewed the tapes made necessary adjustments. I’m very confident ’coz I could see through their eyes the boy are really determined to get into the finals," he added.
