Agojo nears crown

-
The Philippines’ Jayvee Agojo, Anujit Hirunratanakorn of Thailand and South Korea’s Kim Jin Woong carded contrasting rounds yesterday to virtually top their divisions in the fourth PLDT Philippine International Junior Golf Championship.

Agojo eagled the par-5 13th of Wack Wack's east course and gunned two birdies to compensate for her two-double bogey, three-bogey mishap for a 76 and a 149 as she padded her overnight four-shot lead to eight strokes with round left in Class A.

Kim came up with a 75 to take a whopping 19-stroke lead over Sri Lanka’s Amrith de Soysa (86) in the boys’ Class B while Anujit shot a 77 to wrest the girls’ Class C lead at 161.

Indonesia’s Alexander Solomon Situmpul scored a second round 72 to also virtually win the boys’ Class D crown with 141.

Jennifer Fox of Australia struggled with an 80 and will start in today’s final round eight strokes behind Agojo at 157. Thailand’s Phol-Auyporn Praewaspa shot an 83 to place third at 167.

South Korea’s Kim Dae Hyun struggled with an 89 to drop to second place in Class C at 161, followed by Malaysia’s Alex Tiong with 91-185 and the Philippines’ Q’Roni Baterna 100-187.
