The Manila Japanese Baseball Club seeks a clean sweep of the Pony Division when it takes on La Salle Greenhills at the close of the elimination round of the NCR tot baseball championships tomorrow at the Manila Polo Club.
The MJBC has a 4-0 mark going into its match with the Greenies at 9:30 a.m. in the tournament sponsored by the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office and the Philippine Amusements and Gaming Corp.
A win gives the Japanese an unbeatable mark of five wins in the six-team Pony Division (13-14 years), but a loss will enable La Salle Greenhills, which has two straight wins, a chance to gain the lead.
The MJBC ended its elimination round in the Bronco Division (11-12) before the Christmas break with a front-running 4-1 mark and is also leading Woodrose School, 2-1, in the Girls Grade School (13-under).
Defending champion Southridge has a firm grip on the Pinto division (7-8 years) with a 3-0 record while La Salle Lipa, with a 2-0 record, holds a slim lead over defending champion La Salle Greenhills (1-1) and runner-up Southridge (2-10) in the High School Division.
Meanwhile, Woodrose School and La Salle Zobel, both 2-1, clash for the right to meet frontrunning La Salle Lipa (3-1) in the Girls High School Division where only three teams are competing.
